Why mindfulness is so important

Why mindfulness is so important

Mindfulness is a form of meditation where you are quiet and peaceful whilst paying attention to your senses and feeling in the present moment with no judgement or interpretation.

It’s time for you to focus on thoughts, sounds, the sensations of breathing or parts of the body, bringing your attention back whenever the mind starts to wander.  Pilates, Yoga and Tai Chi can also help with developing awareness of your breathing.

Practising mindfulness has many benefits to our physical health.  It can relieve stress, improve sleep, decrease anxiety and depression, reduce chronic pain and lower blood pressure.

Pilates is the mind-body conditioning workout and I always include a mindfulness element in our classes.  Generally we have a 5-10 minute relaxation in every class, but in our Mobility & Flexibility classes we have a 15 minute guided meditation.

I’ve recently added a mindfulness section to FUSION where I’ve written a library of articles sharing tips and advice on mindset, goal setting and affirmations.  These are all designed to help you find your inner peace and calmness.

Our Zoom room Pilates continues to grow in strength for our minds, bodies and popularity.  Just a reminder that our Monday 8pm class has now moved to a Thursday at 7.30pm.  I’ve posted February’s timetable in our WhatsApp group.

If you have a friend/family member/neighbour who would like to join us, but is unsure of what to expect, I am more than happy to offer a free pass for a single class of their choosing.  Drop me a message and I can get this organised.

Have a lovely weekend and stay safe.
