My app is officially live on Playbook!
And, if I’m honest, it still feels a little surreal saying that.
It’s taken a lot of hard work, preparation, learning, self-doubt and, perhaps most importantly, stepping well outside my comfort zone.
If you’d told me a while ago that I’d be creating an app, I probably wouldn’t have believed you.
I’m a Pilates instructor, sports massage therapist and holistic facial massage therapist – I’m not exactly what you’d call a techie, Larch & Yvonne will testify to that!
But I had an idea.
And instead of talking myself out of it, I decided to see what would happen if I actually went for it.
And that’s really what this blog is about.
Stepping outside your comfort zone
We often talk about stepping outside our comfort zone as though it’s easy.
It isn’t.
There were plenty of moments when I wondered whether I could actually do this.
Would anyone use it?
Was it worth all the time and effort?
What if it didn’t work?
But I’ve realised that you don’t need to know exactly how you’re going to do something before you start.
You just need to be willing to learn along the way.
There was a lot to learn with this project, and plenty of things didn’t go exactly to plan.
But each step brought me a little closer to seeing that original idea become a reality.
And now it’s out there!
What if it doesn’t work?
Well, maybe it won’t.
And I’ve had to become comfortable with that possibility.
Because sometimes we’re so worried about failing that we don’t give ourselves the opportunity to succeed.
We wait until we’re confident.
Until everything is perfect.
Until we know exactly what we’re doing.
But I’ve started looking at it differently.
There’s a 50% chance it’ll work if you go for it, but a 100% chance it’ll flop if you don’t.
And that applies to so much more than creating an app.
Maybe there’s something you’ve been thinking about doing.
Starting something new.
Changing direction.
Learning something you’ve always wanted to learn.
Taking a chance on yourself.
You don’t have to feel fearless.
You don’t have to have it all figured out.
You just have to take the first step.
Because you never know where it might lead.
And if it doesn’t work?
You’ve still learned something.
You’ve grown.
You’ve stepped outside your comfort zone – and you’ll probably be a little braver for whatever comes next.
There’s always an option.
For me, creating this app was one of those options.
I decided to go for it.
And I’m so glad I did.
Here’s to trusting the process, enjoying the journey and being brave enough to see what happens.
